On the occasion of the EXPO2020 world exhibition to be held in Dubai from October 2020 to March 2021, the Institut Nicolas Baudin will propose to the Louvre Abu Dhabi a temporary exhibition. The theme of the exhibition is the adventure of positioning at sea: from the Catalan astrolabes and portulans in the Middle Ages, based on the wind directions, to the battle of longitude in the 18th century, which required the use of very precise chronometers, to satellite positioning and general relativity.

This exhibition will bring together the collaboration of the Museum of Applied Arts & Sciences in Sydney, the Bibliothèque nationale de France (French national library) and Centre National d’Etudes Spatiales (the French space agency).
